Chris Kallmyer and Machine Project commissioned four works, for four different duos, from almost 100 composers (including me). Last Saturday, the festival, organized around performances in their coat-room concert space at the Hammer Museum (the Little William Theater), officially started. For more information on show times (etc.), check this website.

A recording of my set from last night’s show at Pieter PASD (07/17/2010) can be found here. My set consisted of an improvisation with a Laptop (controlled by my Wacom Tablet instrument), Radio, and Contact Mic (attached to the top of a pot…a “pot hat,” if you will…), an in development solo rig I have been working on for the last few months.

Work on this setup is going on in tandem with ongoing development of a personal notation system. More on all of this as it develops…

I was just notified that Santiago Astaburuaga, Nicolás Carrasco, Sebastián Jatz Rawicz, and Alvaro Ortega performed a version of “valley,” a recent piece, at a concert in Santiago, Chile. Go here for more information and recordings from the concert (which also featured pieces by Cage and Pisaro). The recording of my piece can also be found here.

I have a lot of shows coming up in the next two months, including performances for the Dog Star Summer Music Festival, a new piece for laptop at Beyond Baroque, and performances with Ensemble 303 (at the wulf. and then later at the Pescadrome), with more in the planning stages.
