This week: More Dog Star (9/7), The Hammer (9/8)

September 7th
Dog Star 8: Music of James Klopfleisch, Gary Schultz and Mark So
the wulf., Los Angeles, CA
8:00pm

Music After People – For Anne LeBaron, for one trombone and three violins, compresses the melody from the jazz standard ‘nature boy’ into a series of occasional chords interspersed with atmospheric “ghost notes” from the violins.

Juniper Foam: Sound for a portrait of Chris Marker navigates various collections of audio sampled from films, not of his own making, but of others’, lying just beyond his overall body of work.

And finally AlmostEveryNamePieceMarkSoHasEverWritten is an attempt to realize all of So’s name pieces, synchronously, quietly, and in a most(ly) private way.

September 8th
Are we supposed to listen to our neighbors?
The Hammer, Los Angeles, CA
1-3pm
$?

Incidental, ambulatory, and dispersed sound highlighting the familiar architecture of the Hammer Courtyard. Independent duos perform across the courtyard spaces in an effort to communicate and listen to one another. Patrons can move through the 2 hour piece, or choose to sit and listen to a folk duo, saxophones, strings, tiny ceramic cups, and a lone percussionist.
